Through nearly 40 episodes of The Growth Show, we’ve seen a consistent theme when it comes to growth: It’s all about finding the right people.
But according to Ghostery CEO Scott Meyer, your definition of “right” should change as your company grows. The employees who help you get to your first million in revenue are not the ones who will help get you to $10 million in revenue — and that’s okay. Change is a key part of growth.
A lot can happen in eight years.
Think about what happened in 2007, for instance. That year, Apple launched the very first iPhone, J.K. Rowling published the final book in the Harry Potter series, and HBO’s The Sopranos aired the controversial final episode.
Now, Apple’s about to release the iPhone 6S, filming has begun for the movie version of the Harry Potter’s spin-off book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Game of Thrones has displaced The Sopranos as the most popular HBO show of all time.
Content marketing takes time, effort and dedication.
But you’re pressed for time everyday. You can’t seem to get around to everything on your to-do list — much less invest the time required for effective content marketing.
So, you just give up. If you can’t do it 110%, you might as well not do it at all? Right?
Wrong.
Once the order is placed and the price paid, your job is to make sure the customer receives their goods in one piece and in a timely manner. Beyond that, nothing else is required. Does that mean you should stop there? Not if you want people to talk about you (in a good way). Ensuring customer delight is the only way to build a brand that people trust and share.
There’s more to productivity at work than blocking Facebook or only checking your email at certain intervals. It turns out that taking breaks — and I don’t just mean for lunch — can do wonders for your long-term focus.
That’s where your office’s break room comes in. But did you know that the atmosphere and contents of the break room can have an effect on the quality of these breaks?
Take a second and think about the three most important people in your life.
Got ’em? Okay, now here’s a quiz: Do you know all three of their phone numbers off the top of your head?
If you don’t, you’re not alone. Why waste brain space memorizing phone numbers when you can look them up on your cell phone whenever you want, right?
In theory, traveling for a conference seems glamorous. Your company is paying for you to go someplace new and exciting where you’ll stay in swanky hotels, meet lots of fabulous people, and learn tons of new things.
But sometimes, reality isn’t so sweet. Maybe your flight gets delayed, or your luggage gets lost, or your hotel room has a barely functional A/C unit, or your favorite suit somehow ends up with coffee all over it.
We’ve all dreamt about writing a blog post so good that it generates more and more traffic each month after it’s published. Sounds like a pipe dream … right?
Turns out, this isn’t a pipe dream after all. We recently found that there are unique blog posts in the archives of many business blogs that generate compounding traffic month over month and year over year.
I wasn’t always a morning person. Whether I was actually doing something productive or just sitting in my bed watching reruns of The West Wing, I remember relishing those late night hours. In those days, sleeping in until 11:00 a.m. was second nature.
Nowadays, though, I couldn’t sleep past 6:30 a.m. if I tried. But I kind of love it — my mornings are by far my most productive time.
